Abstract

Moiré interferometry with a low density grating was used to evaluate the suitability of the T* ε integral and CTOA as ductile fracture parameters for characterizing low cycle fatigue and dynamic crack growth in thin aluminum fracture specimens. Phase shifting Moiré interferometry with a high density grating was also used to determine the energy dissipation mechanism in brittle alumina ceramics.
