Abstract

The new medical developments create a questionable doubt to the further requirement of animal tests. Instead the call for humanitarian reproductive in vitro models becomes increasingly louder. In cancer research and therapy, the effect of chemostatica in vitro in the so called oncogramm is being tested; unfortunately, up to now without great success. However, it showed among other things that the dimensional structure of the tissue plays a vital role. We have decided to concentrate our efforts in realising tissuecultivation in hollow fibre bioreactors (HFBR). With two fibre optic sensors — an optical oxygen sensor and an interbolism detecting LASER, we were able to successfully monitor the biological status of tissue culture and the drug or toxic effects of in vitro pharmaceutical testing. Several studies on human primary tissues were carried out, whereby the correspondingsignals of the oxygen consumption and the NADH content inside the cells showed performance when the tissue culture was exhibited to therapeuticals.
