Framing Professional Development Now

This chapter offers an evidence-based approach to framing and implementing a professional development approach to address both issues of perceived usefulness by teaching professionals themselves, as well as viability in the real world of educational institutions. While we know what knowledge, strategies and methods are most likely to enhance teaching expertise, and how to conduct the professional development process to achieve positive outcomes, good professional learning comes at a cost in terms of time and resources. Hence, both individuals and institutions have to decide what is most viable in their personal and professional contexts.
