Casting Pit Practice

Abstract

The entire processing of molten steel from the time of tapping until it is solidified including stripping from mould and reconditioning, etc. is known as casting pit practice or pit side practice. Solidification of steel, according to ingot structure, is discussed. Ingot defects are developed during solidification that is described. Different methods of teeming are also discussed.
