The New Compaction Grouting Method With Improved Upheaval Control
In this study, a series of model and field experiments were conducted for the purpose of developing a new CPG which has substantially higher efficiency than the conventional CPG’s upheaval control. The new CPG is a method of injecting the mortar while moving the injection tube up and down. The experimental results of the model show that the proposed up and down method can reduce the ground upheaval quantity by more than 80%. The results of the full-scale experiment demonstrate that the new CPG can reduce the ground upheaval quantity by more than 90%. Hence, the new CPG can be applied to facilities where the allowable displacement amount is severe and conventional CPG may not apply, thereby facilitating a sustainable infrastructure development.
