Swastika-Shaped Diagonal Slot on Square Microstrip Antenna for Circular Polarization

Innovative design is presented to obtain Circular Polarization for square and nearly square microstrip antenna using diagonal a pair of Swastika Shape slot. Thorough study carried out explains degeneration of fundamental mode in two orthogonal modes to obtain circular polarization. The study is carried out with various stub locations. Stub and Swastika shape dimensions along with feed position are tuned to optimized spacing between two orthogonal. Bandwidth and axial ratio bandwidth of 350 MHz (>35%) and 45 MHz (4.9%) in 900 MHz frequency band is obtained. Broadside gain of 7 dBi is obtained.
