The Applications of the e-Science in National R&D Program for Major Research Instruments

Abstract

The development of major scientific instruments has indispensable impacts on the modern science and technology, however, it is a complex and difficult mission. Comparing to common scientific projects, the development of major scientific instruments not only requires progresses in relevant theories and technologies, but also requires efficient projects management. In this chapter, quoting the Special Fund for Research on National Major Research Instruments as an example, we will discuss the applications of the information for the program of developing major scientific instruments, and comment on their importance and necessity. Our discussion and comments are made on the basis of following five parts, including sources of project ideas, the process of developing instruments, the integration of instrument systems, the implementation of the projects management, and sharing information after the completion of instruments.
