Agricultural Modernization and Over-Leaping the Middle Income Trap—A Case Study of Japan

  • Wenxin Xiang

In the process of over-leaping the Middle Income Trap towards modernization, agriculture, peasants and rural areas are the “short planks” that require special attention. With the proportion of agriculture declining in the industrial structure, if the income level of a large rural population can not be smoothly raised, it will be difficult for a country to become a high-income one. The experiences of Japan’s agricultural modernization and urbanization are of great significance for China to promote agricultural modernization and over-leaping the Middle Income Trap.
