Evaluation on the Man-Machine-Environment System of University Library

Abstract

Based on the theory of man-machine-environment system, this study establishes a comfort evaluation framework for university libraries, which include three aspects: workspace environment, physical environment, and humanity environment. Among these factors, physical environment is divided into light, thermal, acoustic, and air dimensions. Referring to the relevant national standards, this study conducts a questionnaire survey for the library readership in the main libraries of Tsinghua University, so as to test the feasibility of the evaluation framework. The survey results are in good agreement with those obtained by the established system. Thus, the man-machine-environment system of university libraries can be examined through this framework, which can provide an important reference for the comfort improvement of libraries.
