Full of Noises: The Sound Map of Self
We return to our own mind, where all our sonic imaginative travels have taken place, the canvas upon which all our internal music is placed. We encounter the auditory world of the dream state and ask if in fact the being that listens is separate to or part of our own selves. Recapitulating some of our themes, we join Aristotle in considering the role of memory in our sound adventures. Deep inside us lie the responses to the world around us, and indeed it is through those responses that we make our own world for ourselves. At the end of this story lies its beginning, and we find ourselves returning to the need for active listening, not only to our environment, but to our inner selves.
