Influence of Length to Diameter Ratio on Strength Parameters of Offshore Monopiles

Abstract

This paper presents the variation of various parameters such as deflection, bending moment and stresses along offshore monopiles for different length to diameter ratio under particular loading conditions for piles embedded in sand. The results are presented in non-dimensional form so that the solutions can be used for any length and diameter of monopoles. For different diameter of the piles, keeping the length of piles remain the same, the analysis has been carried out by using FEM modelling tool, Abaqus CAE for the monopiles embedded in a layered stratum with variation in the properties of soil.
