Hip Replacement in Patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has become the golden standard treatment for end-stage hip disorders. THA has been increasingly a mature surgery when it comes to surgical techniques, prosthesis design, product materials, and manufacturing process after half a century of development. Hip involvement in AS is one of the most complex end-stage hip diseases and poses great challenges for THA surgical techniques. All relevant information including joint anatomy, periarticular soft tissues, and adjacent spine and knee functional status should be taken into consideration for a complete surgical plan.
