Quality and Treatment of Water for Experiment Use

Abstract

In most cases, water for physiochemical experiments is used after percolating and boiling to remove impurities such as particles, organics, colloids, microorganisms, etc. To remove bacteria from ultrapure water is arguably the most difficult process. For example, gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas fluorescens and Pseudomonas putida are found in purified water with a TOC (total organic carbon) of 60 ppb, while Pseudomonas stutzeri is found in further purified water with a TOC of 5 ppb.

This chapter deals with types of water appropriate for using in experiments.
