Arsenic and Fluoride Contamination in Groundwater: Mitigation Strategies

  • K. J. Nath
Chapter

Abstract

Presence of arsenic and fluoride in groundwater has been reported in many parts of the world. The anthropogenic causes of such contamination are understood, but the mechanism for release of arsenic and fluoride in the aquifer water is yet to be explained. Millions of people depending on groundwater sources are at risk with adverse health impacts due to arsenic or fluoride poisoning. To meet the challenges, mitigation strategies are suggested adjusting the most critical issues.
