Mid-Vault Surgery: Hump Reduction and Osteotomy
The vast majority of mid-vault surgeries consist of hump reduction and osteotomy. The frequency of hump nose reduction has been increasing among Asian patients, for whom the operation varies significantly relative to Caucasian patients. In Caucasian patients, the hump nose is characterized by excessive height of the dorsum on a long nose. In contrast, the Asian hump nose is characterized by wide variations in radix height and nasal length, which calls for a wider spectrum of operative options.
