Summary

Complex antigens of the B system were analysed in three inbred lines of chickens: C, I and W. Antisera were prepared by reciprocal immunization between individual animals from different sublines of the same line and between lines. We performed the analysis of complex antisera by absorption with erythrocytes of both inbred and outbred animals. Specificity was checked on animals of a backcross population. In 5 complex antigens from inbred sublines we found that at least 21 antigenic components were present of which some are common to several alleles and some are specific for a certain allele. We continued the analysis of these specific antigens in 12 families of full-sibs from outbred line WL and found them of further complexity.
