Milk Protein Polymorphism of Cattle Breeds in Czechoslovakia

Summary

Using electrophoresis on starch gel with urea and mercaptoethanol added, four polymorphic systems of milk proteins in Bohemian spotted, Slovakian spotted, Pinzgau, Ayrshire cattle breeds were studied. The authors describe the distribution of phenotypes, allele frequency, the verification of the existence of linkage between the casein loci, the determination of genotypes in bulls, and the possible use of protein polymorphism in the determination of dizygotic and monozygotic twins.
