Ff — A New Allele in the Bovine FV Blood Group System

Summary

The FV system has so far been regarded as a closed system, but immunological and genetical evidence is brought forward to show that in Zebu-type cattle this system has characteristics similar to the A-B-0 system in man.

Blood group studies on indigenous cattle led to the discovery of a new allele in the bovine FV blood group system. In accordance with the international nomenclature the allele was named Ff, the small letter indicating that the allele is responsible for the absence of antigenic factors F and V in the FV system.
