Abstract

Since the initiation of the starch-gel electrophoresis technique by Smithies (1955), genetically controlled polymorphism in sera from normal cattle has been demonstrated by different workers (Hickman and Smithies, 1957; Ashton, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961; Ashton and McDougall, 1958; Gahne et al., 1960; Højgaard et al., 1960; Gahne, 1961; Brummerstedt-Hansen et al., 1962; Ashton and Fallon, 1962; Schmid, 1962; Buschmann, 1963; Datta and Stone, 1963).
