The application of computers to haemodialysis
For some time computer systems have been applied specifically to haemodialysis centres both for storage and retrieval of patient data and also to clinical problems specific to renal disease (Pollak et al., 1977; Gordon et al., 1979; Masselot et al., 1979; Slama et al., 1979; Bourne et al., 1980; Rorive et al., 1980; Charlton, 1981). A computer system at the Norwich renal unit has been developed that differs from the latter systems in that it provides not only patient data storage and retrieval facilities but also programs designed to control kidney machines during haemodialysis of patients.
