Abstract

Ceramic materials are in perspective for engine friction units, in particular for cam mechanisms which are effected by abrasion, adhesion, corrosion, fatigue and scuffing. It is possible to increase lifetime and realiability of this mechanism depending on the metal/ceramic combination (Fig. 1).
