Abstract

Printing technology, until the early 1960s, was more an art than a science. Until that time the most valuable commodity that an ink technologist could possess was experience. The industry as a general rule was not encouraging scientific input or instrumentation in ink development, but was rather relying on techniques and principles passed from one employee to the next.
