Effect of Peptide YY on Contractile Activity in the Stomach of Heidenhain Pouch Dogs
A new candidate regulatory peptide, peptide YY (PYY) has been isolated from extracts of the porcine upper small intestine (1), and its chemical structure has been determined (2). PYY has been found to inhibit both secretin- and cholecystokinin-induced pancreatic secretion in anesthetized cats (2). In the present study, the effect of this newly isolated peptide on gastric contractile activity in conscious Heidenhain pouch dogs.
