Abstract

We have investigated the luminosity distributions of the first-ranked, second-ranked, and third-ranked cluster galaxies for different cluster morphological types. Basically, we have found that the two magnitude distributions relative to the cD, B and C, L, F, I clusters (according to Rood and Sastry’s classification) differ significantly for the first-ranked members, whereas they are not significantly different for the second- and third-ranked members. This fact points to some differences in the creation mechanism or evolutionary processes relative to the first-ranked members of the cD, B and C, L, F, I clusters.
