Abstract

Given the array of sensors reported on in Chapter 4, an appropriate physique, the ability to get around, and elegant control of both motion and manipulation, all that a proper service robot would need is brains. For a teleoperator, a brain is provided by on-line human control. For a robot that can take independent action, the brain power may be labeled artificial intelligence.
