Samenvatting

Een 35-jarige vrouw krijgt pijn aan de buitenzijde van de knie tijdens hardlopen. Bij een dergelijke klacht is de meest waarschijnlijke oorzaak een iliotibiale-bandsyndroom. Deze hardloopblessure komt veel voor en kan zeer hardnekkig zijn als ze niet adequaat behandeld wordt. Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft een casus, de bevindingen bij onderzoek, de anatomie van de tractus iliotibialis, de oorzaak en de risicofactoren en ten slotte de behandeling van deze aandoening.
