The stability of boundary layer type flows with infinite boundary conditions
The general disturbance equations are studied and it is found that for flows with infinite boundary conditions, the “inviscid” approximation leaves out all effects of viscosity. It is found that the customary parallel flow theory does not suffice for the investigation of viscous effects. The inviscid stability properties of the two-dimensional full and half jet are studied in detail and results presented. A method for investigating the viscous properties is proposed.
