Comparison of the VSMS to the State-of-Practice Representations

  • Spiro N. Pollalis

Abstract

The objective of a representation system of projects is dual. First, it should represent the projects in a way that it supports the project planner to make a best schedule, before actually the project starts. This schedule should be as close to reality as possible, built on reasonable assumptions and with good judgment. This representation should be also easy to understand by the parties involved in the project, some of them being non-specialists in project scheduling. Section 8.1 compares the Visual Scheduling and Management System with the state-of-practice representations for the scheduling of projects.
