Abstract

In the Enzyme Kinetics simulation, you will see how catalysis increases the rate of chemical reactions, with a focus on the role of enzymes in this process. You will learn all about the kinetics of enzymes with the Michaelis–Menten equation and reaction rate constants through an example linking DNA mutations with enzyme hyperactivity. Finally, you will run experiments using the wild‐type and the mutated enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase in the context of learning about alcohol flush syndrome and play with inhibitors that alter the enzymatic reaction in various ways.
