The Lower Island Flap (LIFT) Mastopexy

  • Dennis C. Hammond

There are several goals inherent in any mastopexy technique including lifting of the position of the nipple/areola complex (NAC), reduction in the size of the areola, superior relocation of the breast mound, reduction in the breast skin envelope, and narrowing of the widened breast base diameter. However one of the more challenging aspects of mastopexy relates to restoration of an esthetic upper pole contour as many patients present with an unattractive hollowing out of the upper pole as part of their overall ptotic appearance.
