Les enzymes du catabolisme de la cysteine et de ses dérivés

Résumé

Siles étapes essentielles de la dégradation de la cysteine et des produits intermédiaires auxquels elle donne naissance sont maintenant établies de façon satisfaisante, du moins dans l’ensemble, les propriétés des enzymes qui effectuent ces réactions et les mécanismes mis en jeu sont encore loin d’être clairement déterminés. Dans des revues3–7 relativement récentes, les connaisances acquises à propos du catabolisme de la cysteine et de ses principaux dérivés ont été regroupées; il serait inutile de les exposer à nouveau de manière détaillée. L’objet de ce travail sera surtout de discuter, après un bref rappel des réactions établies, ce que l’on connait actuellement des propriétés des enzymes effectuant ces réactions et des mécanismes intervenant dans la dégradation de la cysteine. Je précise également qu’il sera, avant tout, question ici des phénomènes dégradatifs ayant lieu chez les animaux, cependant certaines étapes du métabolisme de la cysteine chez les bactéries seront rapidement décrites, mais ceci seulement dans la mesure où les résultats obtenus avec les microorganismes ont permis d’aider à la compréhension des mécanismes mis en ieu chez les animaux.
