The Respectability of Astronautics as Reflected by Recent Developments in the United States

By consolidating information from many scientific disciplines it is easy to show that work of vital importance to astronautics is being carried on in the U.S.A. In most cases neither the work nor the workers are specifically directed towards the spaceflight goal, but the net effect of present-day contributions is encouraging.
