Zusammenfassung
Die Nozizeption ist ein hochentwickeltes Sinnessystem, das uns in die Lage versetzt, drohenden Gewebsschäden zu entgehen und eingetretene Verletzungen auszuheilen. So reagiert der Mensch auf schädigende Reize reflektorisch mit dem Wegziehen der betreffenden Körperstelle von der Noxe, und er lernt durch die aufgetretene Schmerzempfindung, solche Reize in Zukunft zu vermeiden. Hat er jedoch größere Verletzungen erlitten, so ist die verletzte Körperregion häufig für einige Zeit schmerzfrei: diese vorübergehende Analgesie ermöglicht es, sich trotz der Verletzung aus dem Gefahrenbereich in Sicherheit zu bringen. Danach setzen in der Regel Schmerzen ein, die den verletzten Organismus ruhigstellen und dadurch eine Ausweitung des Traumas verhüten sowie die Heilung unterstützen.
