Main Parameters of Induction Motors
The study of induction motors may be approached in two ways: evaluation of machine design and analysis of machine operation. The first approach deals with such questions as how to dimension and construct an induction motor; the second considers its function and control. The first way employs a multitude of empirical rules and “how-to-cook” knowledge; the second employs models based on equivalent circuits, making extensive use of mathematical tools, equating circuit variables and parameters. The use of equivalent circuits allow analysis of the machine’s operation in both steady-state and transient regimes.
