The importance of enabling environments to develop resilience

  • Miriam MüllerEmail author

As discussed in previous chapters, one of the main differences emerging from the data are those between different socio-economic groups, rather than between those who had a child and those who did not have one during adolescence. As seen earlier, the two different socio-economic groups do not share the same gender norms, roles, stereotypes, and values. Additionally, the context in which the poor and middle-class youth grow up is different in terms of opportunities available (related to education and work) and the presence (or not) of people that serve as role models due to their achievements related to these two spheres.
