Part two: mapping praxeology
The two decades between 1980 and 2000 brought tremendous changes to the Guatemalan society—but there was still great continuity in the social structures. The wide-spread protest movement in the 1970s and then the uprising of the indigenous people in the highlands together with the guerrilla forces in the 1980s aimed at profoundly changing the socio-economic distribution and putting an end to racial discrimination. The counter insurgency warfare of the military, aided by US-American military, stifled the revolt with their scorched earth strategies.
