Decomposition Strategies for Large-Scale Crew Scheduling Problems
We have seen in the previous chapter that the decomposition strategy significantly affects the solution quality: While smart decompositions might result in close-tooptimal scheduling costs, poor problem decompositions can give away large parts of the solution quality. Research on decomposition strategies, though, has been performed in a rather punctual way so far; an overall best method of decomposing a crew scheduling problem is not known.
