Zusammenfassung
Von 1977 bis 1987 wurden im Krankenhaus Moabit Berlin 165 Patienten wegen eines Rektum- oder Rektosigmoidkarzinoms bestrahlt. Im kurativen Therapiekonzept (93 Patienten) konnte durch die postoperative Bestrahlung mit 46–50 Gy die Lokalrezidivrate von 29% auf 16% gesenkt werden, obwohl die postoperativ nicht bestrahlte Vergleichsgruppe günstigere Tumorstadien aufwies. Die Überlebenszeiten waren in beiden Gruppen gleich.
Bei 72 Patienten mit nicht mehr resezierbarem Lokalrezidiv und oder Fernmetastasierung wurde durch eine Bestrahlung in 79% ein palliativer Effekt für die mittlere Dauer von 12,5 Monaten erzielt.
