EPR of Mn2+ Ions with Different Trigonal Zero-Field Splitting: The Mn2+-Acceptor Pairs in Silicon

Abstract

The three possible main features of the angular fine-structure dependences of a trigonal distorted Mn ion have been demonstrated with the help of four Mn2+ -acceptor pairs ([Mn2+ A-] with A=B,Al,Ga,In) in silicon. The method of perturbation theory in the two limit cases of strong and weak crystal field as well as a direct computer diagonalisation of the S=5/2 energy matrix is applied and discussed.
