EPR of Mn+ Centres in BaF2 and SrF2

Abstract

Different Mn+ centres have been produced in doped SrF2 and BaF2 by X- irradiation at room resp. liquid nitrogen temperature and studied by EPR. At low temperature they are all shifted away from the cubic site. For SrF2 a shift back to cubic position is observed around 60 K. In addition, an unusual centre looking like Mno is found in BaF2.
