Proton Relaxation in a Fractal Polymer Chain

Abstract

The spin-lattice relaxation mechanism for protons that are part of a fractal polymer chain is investigated. The vibrational dynamics of the chain is described in a fractal model with fracton oscillations. The theoretical results are compared with the dispersion of the water proton spin-lattice relaxation data for some biological samples, which have been measured with a field cycling technique for frequencies between 10kHz and 32MHz.
