Supercon Fringe-Field NMR Investigation of Diffusion in Molecular Length Scales: Linear Polymers, Networks, and Percolating Clusters of Biopolymer Hydration Shells

Abstract

The paper addresses two problems: The first refers to the measurement of diffusive displacements in hitherto inaccessible length scales in the hundred Å regime. This is e. g. important for direct studies of segment motions in linear or cross-linked polymers. The second field of interest implies percolation phenomena and anomalous diffusion. There are many theoretical treatments of diffusion on percolating clusters. We undertook the attempt to verify certain predictions by measuring the displacement behaviour at percolating water/protein interfaces.
