Abstract

The small normal size of the adrenal glands makes the use of very thin contiguous slices (2–5 mm) with a high number of aquisitions mandatory. Multiplanar capabilities of MRI must be currently used, even though for screening purposes transaxial planes, such as CT, may be enough. Sagittal and coronal planes are useful for depticting relationships of adrenal tumours with the upper poles of the kidney, with the liver in right-sided disease and with the regional vascular structures.
