Abstract

The fire and explosion hazards which may exist while handling combustible dusts are much less known than the ones which are present with gases and solvents. Therefore, quite often a misjudgement is made. In order to safely handle combustible dusts, it is important to know the dangerous properties [23]. The most reliable way to gain information with regard to the fire and explosion behavior of a dust is to analyze a sample and to describe the test result in the form of parameters known as ”safety characteristics”.
