Narrow Band Impedance Matching

Abstract

Design equations for the commonly used narrow band impedance matching subcircuits are derived in a methodical, step-by-step manner in this chapter. The starting point for each of these calculations is the conjugate matching condition, examined in detail before. The narrow band impedance matching subcircuits are L impedance transformer, single transmission line segment impedance matching, single series or shunt transmission line stubs, double series or shunt or mixed mode impedance matching subcircuit, lambda/12 transmission line impedance matching subcircuit, and lambda_by_4 transmission line segment impedance matching subcircuit. All source and load impedances are assumed to be complex, and special cases are highlighted.
