Oxygen and proper gas exchange is the elemental focal point of respiratory therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a palliative care technique to help provide relief to pleural mesothelioma patients when breathing becomes labored and challenging. In this chapter, the fundamentals of pulmonary rehabilitation are emphasized to help improve quality of life of pleural mesothelioma patients by identifying and assessing breathing challenges, using pulmonary rehabilitation to help alleviate symptoms, and preventing future exacerbation.
