Sketch: ‘Frogger It, I’d Rather Be Playing Computer Games Than Referencing My Assignment’—A Harvard Referencing Game
Chapter
First Online:
Abstract
In this sketch I propose an adaptation of the retro arcade game, ‘Frogger’, that students can use to familiarise themselves with Harvard Referencing—chosen because it is most commonly used by academic departments at the University of Warwick. Although simple citation games have been created by HE libraries before, this one is more gamified—including characters, a simple plot and soundtrack—to improve the user experience. The game is adapted from the classic ‘Frogger’ concept of getting a character safely past a range of obstacles to its home, and aspires to make learning about correct referencing feel fun and effortless.
