Licorice in Middle Asia

Abstract

For the completely floristic area of Middle Asia (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan) 19 species of genus Glycyrrhiza L. are listed. New revision was made on the base of classification of Grankina (2009) but species of the genus Meristotropis are listed separately. Still the central species—G. glabra L.—is one of the most famous species in the folk medicine as well as its resources are stocked in a large amount in this region.
