Abstract

We spend so much of our lives ruminating, chewing over things that have happened, worrying about what we’ve said or done, or wired with anxiety about things we didn’t say or didn’t do. The past remains the past and fixed in history, yet it doesn’t stop us brooding. But why does the past mean so much to us when we can’t really do anything about it? It has happened, it has passed and it is over.
