Despite advances in nonsurgical treatments and noninvasive surgical techniques, radical cystectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection remains the gold standard treatment for urothelial and non-urothelial carcinoma of the bladder with invasion into the muscularis propria [1]. Radical cystectomy is also frequently employed in the setting of high-risk, non-muscle-invasive disease refractory to less invasive therapies.
